Mirza M. A Tunur

Mirza M. A. Tunur is a University of Dhaka undergraduate researcher and a member of the DU Microsystems and Nanoengineering Lab under the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is a co-author of the research paper “SmartDetectAI: An AI-Powered Web App for Real-Time Colorimetric Detection of Heavy Metals in Water,” published in Advanced Intelligent Systems in 2025. His research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, colorimetric sensing and environmental monitoring with SmartDetectAI combining nanoparticles, colorimetric detection, AI-based analysis and a web application for detecting heavy metals in water. Alongside his research activities, Tunur has been actively involved with the Optica Bangladesh Student Chapter at the University of Dhaka, contributing to research, science communication, and outreach activities. He also participated as a BEAR 2026 Patron and BEAR 2025 patron, representing the Optica Bangladesh Student Chapter at the University of Dhaka. His work on SmartDetectAI has further provided him with international and innovation exposure through research showcases and activities associated with the DU Microsystems and Nanoengineering Lab and the BEAR Summit. This work is also nominated as top 50 innovation in Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026.
